[Bug 462812] New: no wallpaper when nautilus starts
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462812 Summary: no wallpaper when nautilus starts Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimmac@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I installed 11.1 keeping my home partition. There seems to be something in my 11.0 gnome config that prevents any wallpaper to render bitmaps. I can only see the solid color or gradient being rendered. Wallpaper is shown on the gdm screen and it even renders correctly for a split second before icons show up during the session startup so I'm guessing it's something about nautilus. I created a new user and it doesn't have this issue. Attached is a screenshot illustrating the issue and my .xsession-errors file if that's helpful in any way. Please advise on what the stale file may be. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's too cold to bother setting a background. Seriously, the only thing that looks strange in your .xsession-errors is this: (nautilus:12897): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: Two different plugins tried to register 'NautilusBurn'. I can't think of how that would screw up the background, but it's weird anyway. A few questions: 1. Can you disable nautilus extensions one by one (just move the files away from /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0 temporarily) and see if that works? 2. What happens if you change your background image with the capplet? 3. What if you do gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /desktop/gnome/background Does the default background appear? And then reconfigure your background? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I went into gconf-editor and went to / -> desktop -> gnome -> background and checked if draw_background was checked off. In my case it was not checked off and by selecting it it restored my background. Try and see if this helps. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I went looking in /apps/nautilus/preferences/ where there's 'background_set' but that's either outdated or for something else.
