--- Comment #2 from Dr. Werner Fink ---
Beside this: I can not recommend to depopulate /bin nor /sbin ... there is a
reason for /bin and /sbin even if replaced with symbolic links ... from FHS
3.4. /bin : Essential user command binaries (for use by all users)
3.4.1. Purpose
/bin contains commands that may be used by both the system administrator and by
users, but which are required when no other filesystems are mounted (e.g. in
single user mode). It may also contain commands which are used indirectly by
scripts. [1]
[...]
6.1.6. /sbin : Essential system binaries
Linux systems place commands relating to filesystem maintenance and boot loader
management into /sbin.
... therefor: can we stop this now. Ever tried to find something useful below
e.g. /usr/bin/
ls -d1 /usr/bin/* | wc -l
3764
including the link /usr/bin/X11 to . aka /usr/bin/
