http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=536532 Summary: Installation of drivers for ivtv fails in clean installation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: johanp@aditus.nu QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=316612) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=316612) The full kernel ring buffer messages shoing the failed ivtv initialization User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-3.1 Firefox/3.5.2 A TV Card (MPEG HW encoder) which depends on the ivtv drivers are present the installation fails to properly set this up. In this case Hauppage WinTV PVR 350 It works half-way. The installation procedure detects the TV-Card, determines that it needs the ivtv drivers but fails to set this up correct. This could be related to the fact that Suse installation seems to not be able to installe the necessary firwmare drivers and it could also be related to updates to more recent kernels where the kernel ivtv is included as standard moduels and does not need to be loaded as separate packages any more (which was the case Suse 11.1) The kernel logs shows the following [ 10.823287] ivtv: Start initialization, version 1.4.1 [ 10.826178] ivtv0: Initializing card 0 [ 10.826184] ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge card (cx23415 based) [ 10.826259] alloc irq_desc for 21 on node 0 [ 10.826263] alloc kstat_irqs on node 0 [ 10.826272] ivtv 0000:04:05.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 21 (level, low) -> IRQ 21 [ 10.826284] ivtv0: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) [ 10.887279] tveeprom 1-0050: Hauppauge model 48134, rev I121, serial# 6189578 [ 10.887284] tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is Philips FM1216 (idx 21, type 5) [ 10.887288] tveeprom 1-0050: TV standards PAL(B/G) (eeprom 0x04) [ 10.887292] tveeprom 1-0050: audio processor is MSP4418 (idx 25) [ 10.887295] tveeprom 1-0050: decoder processor is SAA7115 (idx 19) [ 10.887298] tveeprom 1-0050: has radio, has IR receiver, has no IR transmitter [ 10.887302] ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 [ 10.888186] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [ 10.888235] HDA Intel 0000:00:1b.0: setting latency timer to 64 [ 10.920000] saa7115 1-0021: saa7115 found (1f7115d0e100000) @ 0x42 (ivtv i2c driver #0) [ 10.949840] input: HDA Digital PCBeep as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/input/input5 [ 11.104220] saa7127 1-0044: saa7127 found @ 0x88 (ivtv i2c driver #0) [ 11.171281] msp3400 1-0040: MSP4418G-A2 found @ 0x80 (ivtv i2c driver #0) [ 11.171286] msp3400 1-0040: msp3400 supports nicam and radio, mode is autodetect and autoselect [ 11.183890] tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) [ 11.227845] tuner-simple 1-0061: creating new instance [ 11.227851] tuner-simple 1-0061: type set to 5 (Philips PAL_BG (FI1216 and compatibles)) [ 11.240474] IRQ 21/ivtv0: IRQF_DISABLED is not guaranteed on shared IRQs [ 11.241229] ivtv0: Registered device video0 for encoder MPG (4096 kB) [ 11.241301] ivtv0: Registered device video32 for encoder YUV (2048 kB) [ 11.241368] ivtv0: Registered device vbi0 for encoder VBI (1024 kB) [ 11.241435] ivtv0: Registered device video24 for encoder PCM (320 kB) [ 11.241505] ivtv0: Registered device radio0 for encoder radio [ 11.241572] ivtv0: Registered device video16 for decoder MPG (1024 kB) [ 11.241641] ivtv0: Registered device vbi8 for decoder VBI (64 kB) [ 11.241711] ivtv0: Registered device vbi16 for decoder VOUT [ 11.241782] ivtv0: Registered device video48 for decoder YUV (1024 kB) [ 11.241786] ivtv0: Initialized card: Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 [ 11.241835] ivtv: End initialization [ 11.619181] ieee1394: Host added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[00508d0000d0005a] [ 11.872141] ivtv 0000:04:05.0: firmware: requesting v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw [ 11.887436] ivtv0: Unable to open firmware v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw (must be 376836 bytes) [ 11.887796] ivtv0: Did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory? Basically the SuSE RPM setup was wrong (nothing wrong with the drivers itself). Afte a short mail discussion with Ladislav Slezak this was fixed with the release of yast2-tv-2.18.3 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
