There is an alternative explanation - bug in nv driver. It started to happen to me in 10.2, when I switched from nvidia drivers (proprietary) to nv (open source). I will try to test all xscreensavers hacks, find the problematic one and create testcase. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It uses gamma or so to do initial darken. If this process is stopped in a bad phase, it will do strange thing (completely black password pop-up might be considered as freeze - probably happened to me just now, as well as unlocking without restoring original gamma, as happened to me several times with <= beta 1). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Today (I have 10.3 x86_64 final) I have seen something a bit different: I switched from another virtual console and seen slowly darkening screen. I pressed a key, darkening stopped, but gamma did not return. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It looks more like a race condition in the X alone than two identical bugs in two drivers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
