[Bug 438982] New: encfs cannot mount encrypted directory
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438982 Summary: encfs cannot mount encrypted directory Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: mszeredi@novell.com ReportedBy: cstender@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Development I created a new encrypted setup with the following steps: linux:~ # encfs ~/.safe ~/secure The directory "/root/.safe/" does not exist. Should it be created? (y,n) y The directory "/root/secure" does not exist. Should it be created? (y,n) y Creating new encrypted volume. Please choose from one of the following options: enter "x" for expert configuration mode, enter "p" for pre-configured paranoia mode, anything else, or an empty line will select standard mode. ?> p Paranoia configuration selected. Configuration finished. The filesystem to be created has the following properties: Filesystem cipher: "ssl/aes", version 2:1:1 Filename encoding: "nameio/block", version 3:0:1 Key Size: 256 bits Block Size: 1024 bytes, including 8 byte MAC header Each file contains 8 byte header with unique IV data. Filenames encoded using IV chaining mode. File data IV is chained to filename IV. -------------------------- WARNING -------------------------- The external initialization-vector chaining option has been enabled. This option disables the use of hard links on the filesystem. Without hard links, some programs may not work. The programs 'mutt' and 'procmail' are known to fail. For more information, please see the encfs mailing list. If you would like to choose another configuration setting, please press CTRL-C now to abort and start over. Now you will need to enter a password for your filesystem. You will need to remember this password, as there is absolutely no recovery mechanism. However, the password can be changed later using encfsctl. New Encfs Password: Verify Encfs Password: After these steps the .safe/secure dir is mounted: linux:~ # mount | grep encfs encfs on /root/secure type fuse.encfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,default_permissions) I can now create a new file and unmount the decrypted dir: linux:~ # touch ~/secure/test linux:~ # fusermount -u ~/secure/ linux:~ # mount | grep encfs linux:~ # ll ~/.safe/ total 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 922 Oct 25 15:55 .encfs6.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Oct 25 15:57 7DpmAPju7M42PYUnD1Tx3T17 linux:~ # ll ~/secure/ total 0 If I try to remount the encrypted dir I get the following error: linux:~ # encfs ~/.safe ~/secure encfs: ./boost/spirit/utility/impl/chset/range_run.ipp:123: void boost::spirit::utility::impl::range_run<CharT>::set(const boost::spirit::utility::impl::range<CharT>&) [with CharT = char]: Assertion `r.is_valid()' failed.
