[Bug 748668] New: I need to enter password for: sleep, network, pendrive
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748668 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=748668#c0 Summary: I need to enter password for: sleep, network, pendrive Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Xfce AssignedTo: bnc-team-xfce@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mpapis@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=477658) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=477658) my local rules User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1 For many basic operations I'm asked for password, it makes work very annoying. But one is dangerous - closing the laptop lid does not put computer into sleep, it asks for password: really ? I just closed the lid, do i need to open it to enter password to close it again ? I'm used to close the lid and hide my laptop to backpack, the above behavior makes it possible to destroy hardware because of overheat. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. close the laptop lid, connect to new wifi, connect memory stick Actual Results: I'm asked for a password for many basic operations. Expected Results: it should just work without asking me for a password, even MS windows stoped asking for a password (which was the case in Vista) I'm not sure if the problem is with the polkit settings itself, I had to enable the inactive part of rules - which might be a bug in detecting active/inactive session. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Are you running the oS 12.1 Xfce default install with LightDM as the login manager? Are you using any additional OBS repos? First, please check with "ck-list-sessions" to check whether your session is marked active. Then you can try to reset PolicyKit privilege settings to the installation defaults with the following steps: in /etc/sysconfig/security set POLKIT_DEFAULT_PRIVS="" and PERMISSION_SECURITY="easy local" remove your /etc/polkit-default-privs.local again and run /sbin/set_polkit_default_privs as root -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you please do the following: - boot but do not log in via LightDM - rather switch to a free vt and log in as root - run "killall console-kit-daemon; console-kit-daemon --debug --no-daemon" - switch back to LightDM and log in as your regular user - get the output of "ps -ef", all logfiles under /var/log/lightdm/ and /var/log/messages and attach them to this bug -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
