I've already posted backport patches for kernels > v5.0 [1]. (69562eb0bd3e ("fanotify: disallow mount/sb marks on kernel internal pseudo fs") [2]) I am not planning to post backport patches for older kernels. which got merged in LTP as [4]. While in Tumbleweed we get fixes sooner or later (not sure how in Alp), in Leap we probably need to backport (it's also in upcoming 5.10.188-rc1 [5] [6]) it or wontfix. https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1213486 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1213486#c2 --- Comment #2 from Jan Kara <jack@suse.com> --- Well, this is not a functionality bug per se. Rather it is a functionality which is not really supported and the patch adds proper error return instead of resulting in rather random behavior. I'd be reluctant to actually backport the commit to released versions of our distro as if accidentally some application depends on the behavior, the update would break it. If the customer finds on distro version update that something is broken, they are in much better setting to fix their application to not depend on broken behavior. So I will push the fix to the 6.4 based kernels we're going to ship with SLE15-SP5 and ALP (in fact stable process is likely to pick it up for them) but for older kernels this is IMO WONTFIX. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Closing the problem as WONTFIX since it is reported for 15.4. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

SLE-15SP5 is still affected by this issue. https://openqa.suse.de/tests/15150144#step/fanotify14/8 SLE-15SP5 still runs on kernel v5.14.21 and hasn't entered LTSS yet. Kernel v6.4 was introduced in SLE-15SP6 (not affected). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for correcting me! It still holds I don't see positive value in shipping this in a maintenance update as I explained in comment 2. So closing again... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
