[Bug 231328] New: NCQ issue with Hitachi drive
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231328 Summary: NCQ issue with Hitachi drive Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: axboe@kernel.dk QAContact: qa@suse.de There's a known issue with some Hitachi drives with NCQ enabled controllers, which is fixed in later kernels. However, the 10.2 kernel does not have it fixed. The problem shows up with lots of: [...] ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x7fffffff) ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x7fffffff) ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x7fffffff) ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x7fffffff) ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x7fffffff) ata1: spurious interrupt (irq_stat 0x4 active_tag -84148995 sactive 0x3) messages in dmesg. And I mean lots. The sactive register has any bit between 0 and 30 set, the above is just a few examples. The issue is that the Hitachi drive triggers an interrupt with a device to host FIS with the I bit mistakingly set, but no commands have completed yet. Hence the sactive register doesn't have any bits cleared, which makes ahci complain. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
