http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623829 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=623829#c0 Summary: The Kernel attempts to load and then restarts - unable to view logs Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jakemills.tech@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100423 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.3 I have tried booting both the live cd and DVD for x86_64 and it starts to load up the kernel (currently 2.6.34.1-1) and the screen goes blank the the machine restarts. Lenovo N500 Laptop, I am using an Intel Pentium Dual Core T3400 2.16ghz, 4gb RAM I can get the kernel to boot but only by passing it the "mem=4096m" parameter. This does causes the system to only recognise 3gb of the 4gb ram installed in the laptop. This has been a problem with the same Kernel in Arch and I have seen this error in the Sidux forums also. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot DVD 2.Select Install (error occurs on the loading of the kernel) 3. Actual Results: Laptop simply restarts. No error messages, due to time of restart there are no available logs either. Expected Results: To get into the installer so that I can run OpenSUSE on my laptop. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
