[Bug 724044] New: ktimetracker packages in KDE 4.7.2 broken
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724044 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724044#c0 Summary: ktimetracker packages in KDE 4.7.2 broken Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: kilgus@fuenfsieben.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) KHTML/4.7.2 (like Gecko) Konqueror/4.7 SUSE For both openSUSE 11.3 and 11.4 the packages of ktimetracker from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/47/ are broken. /usr/share/kde4/apps/ktimetracker/ktimetrackerui.rc is a symlink to ./kontact/ktimetrackerui.rc - but kontact seems not to be defined as requirement (at least it will not be installed automatically by zypper). I preferred anyway that the ktimetracker package contained its UI instead of relying on kontact (which I do not intend to use) for that. But even after installing kontact, every try to start ktimetracker ends with an infobox "Die Komponente für den KDE-Zeitplaner kann nicht erstellt werden" (might translate to "Could not create the KTimeTracker part.") followed by an empty window. I can reproduce the problem with standalone ktimetracker it works within kontact. The problem with ktimetrackerui.rc should be fixed with sr 88061 in KDF. The main problem with ktiemtracker not being able to start outside of kontact should probably be reported upstream at bugs.kde.org as it also exists on ubuntu. (I have seen that the ktimetracker maintainer is aware of the ubuntu problem, but as the openSUSE packages install the kpart, I doubt that it is simply a packaging bug.) So would you mind reporting it upstream and report back the link to the upstream report? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The problem with ktimetrackerui.rc should be fixed with sr 88061 in KDF
"sr" = service release? "KDF"? Whatever the above means, at least ktimetracker-4.7.2-3.6.i586, built on "Mo 17 Okt 2011 03:26:07 CEST" still contains the symlink to "../kontact/ktimetrackerui.rc", which fails if kontact is not installed.
So would you mind reporting it upstream and report back the link to the upstream report?
A report has been filed already as I managed to find out in the meanwhile: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283479 Therefore I will attach further discussion concerning the kpart standalone trouble to this upstream report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Did you change the automatic update only for 11.4 or did you include 11.3, too? On my 11.4 machine I already saw the fixed ktimetrackerui.rc, on my 11.3 machine it's still linking to ../kontact/. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
