The forums are full of problems booting to Plasma 5 desktop with Nvidia driver installed. With my GeForce 8600GTS, when I boot to the desktop I am getting a black screen. ATM I use "nomodeset". Make a bug report under X11 party driver? Also, Failsafe has been around for years. No alternative on the horizon? Come out of your ivory tower and scan the problems reported for leap. So yea we can lead the untrained user by the hand to add a a nomodeset to the boot by editing the grub entry. but many users are just not up to it or maybe have language problems. There has to be a stupidly simple way to allow people to boot a graphically challenged machines and get to at least a rudimentary GUI to remove or fix there driver problems.
