[Bug 625401] New: PCI I/O allocation broken for nvidia when using acpi
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625401 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625401#c0 Summary: PCI I/O allocation broken for nvidia when using acpi Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: asenerchia@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=378227) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=378227) dmesg for nvidia proprietary driver with acpi User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.1 SUSE/6.0.443.0 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/6.0.443.0 Safari/534.1 When acpi is used, PCI I/O memory allocation is not done correctly, making the nvidia GPU an invalid device (i.e., nouveau & nvidia proprietary drivers unuseable). This occurs on an ASUS G1Sn-B1 with 4GB RAM and an nVidia GeForce 9500M GS. This laptop has an AMI BIOS. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install nouveau or nvidia proprietary driver for openSUSE 11.3. 2. Boot any openSUSE 11.3 x86_64 kernel. (i586 was not tested) with acpi. Actual Results: X11 cannot start; user is left at tty1 login. To start X11, another driver (vesa) may be used with acpi, however a screen resolution of 800x600 is used (as opposed to 1680x1050). Expected Results: Fully accelerated 1680x1050@60.0 X11 environment with acpi. I will attach two other dmesgs in replies, if possible. One will be the dmesg with acpi and nouveau, the other with nvidia proprietary driver and no acpi. This problem occurs on a laptop, thus the "broken" acpi is a major feature. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
