Now i'm on Aplha2 with 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.0 (4.1 >= 20080722)) "release 17" and problem still exists. I have Asus nVidia Geforce 6600, but it happens to me also in VirtulaBox. I have a NVIDIA 7600 and do not see that grey screen. I think the issue might be specific to your hardware. it might be :-( i have nVidia 6600 and it happens with all drivers. Even at the VMware and the VirtualBox. Videos were captured in the VirtualBox.
