My HP Photosmart C4180 looks OK, but it won't print. I set it up on 3 separate boxes, it broadcasts and the broadcasts are seen on all boxes on the network. I could get it to do cartridge alignment, but jobs just stay on the queue and "http://localhost:631" the printer goes from green to yellow and no errors reported under /var/log/cups. I set up a Lexmark z600 with the same result. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Some info about the device file permission settings would help. On the other hand "prints but just solid black" looks like a totally differnt issue (in comment #3 perhaps because of the upgraded HPLIP) which gets mixed up with the initial issue according to comment #0. However, that particular printer has 12 (!) possible drivers to select. My first two choices ("HP LaserJet 8150 Foomatic/lj4dith [en] (recommended)", small bar at top of page, and "HP LaserJet 8150 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.02 [en]", solid black) didn't work. The error message in comment #22 and comment #23 ------------------------------------------------------------------- .. (/usr/lib64/cups/filter/pstoraster) crashed on signal 11! ------------------------------------------------------------------- indicates a Ghostscript issue. Currently we have already bug #501711 and bug #502647 regarding Ghostscript. Please provide a CUPS error_log for one single failed printout as described here: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_in_a_Nutshell -------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Set the "LogLevel debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. 2. Stop cupsd. 3. Move /var/log/cups/error_log* to another location (or delete it) in order to avoid having to search through gigantic log files. 4. Start cupsd. 5. Retry the action leading to the problem. 6. Now /var/log/cups/error_log contains many messages that are useful for troubleshooting. -------------------------------------------------------------- Attach /var/log/cups/error_log to this bug after one single printout had failed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
