But as soon as the LED switches to a permanent green color (= blanking is finished) the process hangs. On openSUSE-11.0 the LED switches to green either and then the prompt returns (= media could be ejected then). So, it's not the desktop nor the hardware; either wodim or the kernel, I think. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It first shows the wodim process in D and after some time the machine freezes completely. I got the same messages as in the initial comment. The only difference between blanking 4x and 10x media is the speed so I guess that the problem is caused by some timeout (wodim itself requests timeout that is big enough). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I can not look on more hardware details of the machine at the moment because I am installing RC1 right now. I tried to reuse my rewritable media to burn openSUSE 11.1 RC1 iso files. Erasing the media (both the DVD-RW and CD-RW, the latter one used for language AddOn) failed. Both in K3b and Brasero. Both fast blanking and non-fast. I then tossed my DVD-RW into waste basket, thinking it was somehow damaged. I intended to do so also with the CD-RW but then I got an idea to reboot to the ubuntu 8.10 partition (on the same machine). In the ubuntu erasing of the CD-RW with brasero worked absolutely smoothly and I could reuse it then. (Unfortunately my DVD-RW has already laid (dirty) in the basket but I would bet that in ubuntu it would be possible to successfully erase it.) I just add that I did the successful blanking in ubuntu with verifying (non-fast, as I usually do). So, erasing with openSUSE 11.1 beta5 appears not to be working et all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The original bug freezed the machine completely. Please enter a new bugreport and attach k3b log. I do not have beta 5 any more and I can not test it in RC1 because this latter one did not install succesfully on my notebook (did corrupt my boot loader - see bug # 450091 ). However now I just add that the bug in erasing in my case displayed itself in such a way that the process of medium erasing (both CD and DVD) had started but did not finish at all, both with Brasero and K3b. I was each time waiting for .. say 15-30 minutes and it still was in a state of "erasing" but did not the job actually. The same CD medium was erased in ubuntu on the same machine in few minutes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
