https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=281779 Summary: Server install with 2 NICS Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ddkconsultancy@skynet.be QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Opensuse 10.2 will switch after install from NIC1 (eth1) to NIC2(eth0). So the solution is to switch the cable :-) On 10.3 he only reconize NIC1 so after install he switch to nothing so result no more network/internet. He sees the 2 NIC in the hardware query but that is all. Also you better not add extra packages in the install because then the synchronisation takes ages. I hope this will contribute to best Linux port! regards, Danny - Belgium -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Opensuse 10.2 will switch after install from NIC1 (eth1) to NIC2(eth0). So the solution is to switch the cable :-)
Was it new install or update?
On 10.3 he only reconize NIC1 so after install he switch to nothing so result no more network/internet.
This seems as bug. But there was many network-related changes from alpha4 to alpha5. So I need to know what is status of that in current (10.3alpha5)
Also you better not add extra packages in the install because then the synchronisation takes ages.
Sorry, that's not my part. But this will be improved in some beta (search zypp mailing lists) Changed serverity to MAJOR (see https://bugzilla.novell.com/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
