https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=828362 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=828362#c0 Summary: boot process stop after: Starting LSB:Configure network interface and setup routing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: i586 OS/Version: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software AssignedTo: lrupp@suse.com ReportedBy: f.leerink@xs4all.nl QAContact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Customer Blocker: --- Hello, I have tested openSUSE 12.3 EDU-Life on my Pentium 4 machine and it worked oke. I had setup with Yast a wireless non-dhcp network that also functioned correctly, so I decide to install from within the openSUSE 12.3 EDU-Life system. The install went oke until the 1st reboot. Grub2 presented the correct entries and I selected the default "boot openSUSE 12.3 EDU-Life". The system started to boot, displayed the splash screen en than starts displaying system messages. The last message was:Starting LSB:Configure network interface and set up routing. Hereafter no continuation of boot process for at least 15 minutes, so I pressed the power button to shutdown the system. I have tried it once more with the same result. Also in safe mode the system halted at the same pint with again Starting LSB:.... What Can I do to find some more info about the boot failure. This time I did it directly from the DVD (without 1st starting the live system from the DVD) and I instructed the install program to reformat the / and the /home partition, so the system has no data from my earlier trial. The install went normal as well as the following reboot. I tried to setup with Yast a wireless non-dhcp network but than I run into the network problems as described in the release notes and with the help of the release notes I could solve that problem so the wireless non-dhcp network is functioning correctly. The only problem I still have with openSUSE 12.3 EDU-Life on my Pentium 4 machine is that the shut down process is not functioning correctly as described in bug 818987 Shut down does not stop system and display. The only problem I still have with openSUSE 12.3 EDU-Life on my Pentium 4 machine is that the shut down process is not functioning correctly as described in bug 818987 Shut down does not stop system and display.
Thanks for your cooperation in trying to solve this! openSUSE 12.3 Edu-Life is indeed running the same base system as openSUSE 12.3 - the only difference are the special educational applications. So if you encounter a problem with the base system (kernel, dbus, systemd, ... just to name the few most important ones) it is absolutely ok and enough to file a bugreport against openSUSE 12.3. If you are unsure if a bug affects more the Edu variant or the openSUSE version, you can either file two reports or one and leave it up to the developers to decide (as you thankfully did). So I'm closing your report here as "duplicate" as the bug is in the openSUSE 12.3 base system and IMHO handled already by Frederic Crozat, which is the expert for systemd, in bug 818987. Again: you did a perfect job already, Frans, thanks for helping to sort out this problem! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 818987 *** http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=818987 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
