System : DELL INSPIRON E1505 USB device : Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS FM kernel oops provided as attachment Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just plug the usb stick when the system has finished booting Actual Results: kernel oops either the system freezes completely and has to be powered off or the X freezes but the system responds to power button and shutsdown I have tried several options for the device driver with no luck. When using two devices at the same time i use these options for the driver : options em28xx alt=4 vbi_mode=0 device_mode=0 with the same resault. The two devices work under openSuse 11.1 with a 2.6.27 kernel but only one can output video when used simultaneously. Under fedora core 6 and a 2.6.22 kernel both devices work perfectly simultaneously with the final em28xx-new driver version by mcentral.de (abandoned project) with the above driver options. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655513 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655513#c5 --- Comment #5 from Nico Kruber <Nico.Laus.2001@gmx.de> 2010-12-15 23:45:22 UTC --- I'm sorry, but I'm neither a kernel driver developer, nor do I have the time to get into the details - I barely managed to find the code changes between the kernel versions and I was lucky that it compiled - apparently something else must have changed or I did something wrong with my patch. I'm not familiar at all with kernel debugging which would make it even more difficult for me to find the bug, especially since I do not have your device. It worked for my DVB-T stick and I'm lucky for that but already afraid of the changes in the next kernel version shipped by openSUSE 11.4. You could alternatively try with the newest kernel but I had no luck getting my device to work there :( I'll probably by a fully supported one by then. I'm leaving the bug as open - maybe someone else want to debug it. Anyway, the em28xx-new is not supported anymore since Markus Rechenberger abandoned it. It would be nice if someone had integrated his changes (without the firmware) into the official dvb_video. But this looked non-trivial, especially since the two diverged... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
