[Bug 273561] New: Update OpenSP to the latest stable release
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=273561 Summary: Update OpenSP to the latest stable release Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: All URL: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/openjade/OpenSP- 1.5.2.tar.gz?modtime=1135352561&big_mirror=0 OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pth@novell.com ReportedBy: sierkb@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de OpenSP, the SGML and XML Parsing Tools of the OpenJade Group should be updated as soon as possible to the latest stable release, which is 1.5.2 as of May 2007. Since openSUSE 10.2 ships with a quite outdated version 1.5.1 of the jear 2003 (the recent stable version 1.5.2 is out since 2005-12-23), openSUSE 10.3 and its Alpha and Beta stages should ship with an accurate latest stable release of this software. See http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2115 for versioning details. The latest stable release of opensp and opensp-devel is needed by several SGML and XML parsing and validating tools, like the W3C Markup Validator of http://validator.w3.org/, which heavily relies on it. Hint: for possibly existing patches to OpenSP, have a look at Fedora's latest OpenSP 1.5.2 packages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Result: build failed -> gettext error message. What doeas the empty ready file stand for? Is this the cause, why the package isn't already built by the openSUSE Build System? If yes, how can we get the error be fixed? What about the opensp-multilib.patch by Fedora? Is it needed? Could this question be solved quickly, so that the opensp package can find its way into the factory trunk as soon as possible? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Please provide to and build this package not only for openSUSE Factory/openSUSE 10.3, but also for openSUSE 10.2 or openSUSE 10.2:Update (and maybe earlier versions of SUSE Linux) to enable the usage of it to packages, which require this latest OpenSP version, like the package perl-SGML-Parser-OpenSP does. This perl-SGML-Parser-OpenSP, available in the openSUSE Build System on http://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=perl-SGML-Parser-OpenSP&project=devel%3Alanguages%3Aperl requires the latest version of OpenSP and fails to build with the (very outdated) version of OpenSP shipped with openSUSE 10.2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for the remainder. I now built OpenSP as part of the XML project:
http://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=opensp&project=XML
Thus far untested. Will this work for you?
Thank you. I will give it a try. So far, I have made an aggregate link on http://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=validators to that location, that you have chosen for OpenSP before, so that depending perl-modules and other packages of the validator are able to build. As far as I can see, this aggragate linking is no longer needed, as the latest OpenSP package now with this of your location move would be available for all SUSE versions and not only for Factory. This would be great. At my home server, your renewed OpenSP package (previously built only for Factory) works without a flaw concerning the w3c validator, and I guess it will also work, if it is relocated and part of the XML project. As soon as possible, I will check, if the aggregate link on http://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=validators to the OpenSP package and the depending perl packages still are needed to build the package in the Build Service. If not, these aggregate links might be removed, because they might be no longer necessary. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
