S. <novell@mirell.de> 2008-09-12 15:23:21 MDT --- Perhaps this gives some more clues... I needed the latest libzypp/zypper for my repo some days ago and stumbled upon this issue. Simply exporting my repository setup to a .repo file, then removing all repositories, then reimporting them from the .repo file again and the error disappeared. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The interesting thing is the directory /etc/products.d is created and not /etc/zypp/products.d . Looking at the file in /etc/products.d I can see that the format between the installed openSUSE.prod and the openSUSE-ftp.prod changed from plain text to xml. just doing a zypper dup and hope to get smart working eventually again as well after renaming/removing the openSUSE.prod file zypper worked again -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

From Michael Calmer:
Installing: zypper-0.6.104-0.3 [done] Problem occured during or after installation or removal of packages: rpmdb2solv -r '/tmp/kiwi-ec2' -p '/tmp/kiwi-ec2/etc/products.d' '/tmp/kiwi-ec2/var/cache/zypp/solv/@System/solv' > '/tmp/kiwi-ec2/var/cache/zypp/solv/@System/solvozDW5l' repo_products: syntax error at line 1:0 it happens when zypper 0.12.5-2 (11.1 A3Plus) installs SLES 10 SP2 zypper-0.6.104-0.3 into a new root tree --------------------- This means rpmdb2solv fails also in -r <rootdir>. The question is whether installation of the *-release package (and thus <rootdir>/etc/products.d) should be triggered by installation of _any_ package into that root dir. If not, then rpmdb2solv should IMO not fail like this! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Unfortunately it used the XML parser to do this. This is what created the syntax error at line 1:0.
