https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=439586 Summary: odd mime association ... Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta 3 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmeeks@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Perhaps it's just me, but going to: http://council.openoffice.org/esc/20071029/ESC_20071029_overview.odp in firefox - gives me a download dialog like the attached; wanting to load the odp files in evince ;-( [ and worse, with no OO.o option ]. Is this broken mime type tagging in the wiki ? or is it just a bug (or mis-configuration here). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Vincent, please make OO the default handler handler for all its base types.
The issue is really a bit more complex than that. I'm sure you don't want OOo the default handler for text/plain :-) Also, should calc open the following: text/csv, text/spreadsheet, text/x-csv (I think yes)? At this point of the cycle, it might be safer to force using OOo for application/vnd.sun.xml.impress and application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation (the mime types supported by evince). Is this okay? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Vincent, please make OO the default handler handler for all its base types.

No, that was another bug along time ago. By base types I meant ODF/staroffice types. MS Office types to I guess.
Also, should calc open the following: text/csv, text/spreadsheet, text/x-csv (I think yes)?
Sounds good.
At this point of the cycle, it might be safer to force using OOo for application/vnd.sun.xml.impress and application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation (the mime types supported by evince). Is this okay?

It seems the order between evince & impress was randomly chosen (I have impress first here). Now it should always be impress first. Note that you have to run SuSEconfig --module glib2.
