I clicked on O.K and the received an error stating it could not be loaded into resident RAM, however it sits in the system tray, with the resident option disabled. With the resident module disabled, I cannot see any justification for the applet to be present. The Open Office Quickstarter Applet has not functioned since X_64 was released in about version 10.2. I would suggest that it is either fixed or removed from the packing list. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.As Above 2. 3. Actual Results: Error Response - means that the Quick Starter will not load into resident RAM and is therefore useless Expected Results: It gets fixed or removed from X_64 Packing list. Also it worked for me with the older openSUSE systems. Scoot could you please try more things and provide more information? 1. Is the option "Configure OpenOffice.org Quickstarter.../Advanced/Use OpenOffice.org Quickstart-mode" disabled? Does it help you to enable it? 2. The Applet Sits and Remains in the System Tray as normal. 2. Yes everything about configuring the Applet is available. 3. If I check the Advanced box - Enable quick-start fix......The Advanced Use OpenOffice.org's Quickstart-mode will remain checked as on. Despite the initial Warning Message the Quick-start-mode remains checked only IF the Quick-start fix is on. The default, first time load of the applet lets the Quickstart Applet remain but the Advanced>Quick-Start-mode check box is removed. Manually checking both the Quick-mode and the quick fix fixes the issue. The error warning on first time use of the applet is rather verbose and its second warning that it will not load resident and remove the resident mode from on to off needs attention. It appears the Quick-fix, corrects the resident mode all O.K at boot. The Applet was written and designed for only I386 where it works without fault. It only fails 100% under X_64 Architecture - Sorry I thought that was well known. Permanent Parking in RAM Registers is totally different in I386 Kernel than X_64 Kernel. For example, it worked on my x86_64 workstation. It did not work on "slow" machines. I saw this on my second 64-bit machine only with KDE4 that caused some extra load. It worked with KDE3 there. Note that 64-bit binaries start slower because they are bigger => it was higher chance to see this bug on x86_64. You might even see this with KDE3 if there are many processes started in parallel. Anyway, I have increased the timeout to start OOo and it works here now => FIXED It will take few hours until the package is rebuild in BS. Tomorrow, you might try to update from the OpenOffice.org:STABLE project or OpenOffice.org:UNSTABLE peojects.
