[Bug 333684] New: (k)Networkmanager can' t connect to 64bit encrypted WEP - uses 128bit key
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=333684 Summary: (k)Networkmanager can't connect to 64bit encrypted WEP - uses 128bit key Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dl9pf@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community of Practice Hi! I know 64bit WEP is considered insecure, but that's not my question. I had to connect to a network encrypted with 64bit wep. (k)Networkmanager chooses 128bit wep when i enter a passphrase. I can't select 64bit somewhere. Enhancement: Add button/option for 64bit key. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Most manufacturers do it differently. 104/128-bit ones do have a (fairly) standard way." In the Windows world, I expect this is avoided by having the hardware vendor provide the driver, the hash, and various necessary glue. I further expect that the workaround under Linux is to use hex or ASCII, which both avoid the hash ambiguity associated with passphrase. Still, passing this along. Adjusting the summary to more accurately describe the problem and adjusting severity. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Don't beat the user, beat the admin ;) ;) . -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
