[Bug 788842] New: Computer freezes after updating CPU microcode
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788842 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=788842#c0 Summary: Computer freezes after updating CPU microcode Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimoe@sohnen-moe.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 The boot up freezes reliably right after the CPU microcode upgrade (see messages listing below). The listing is from a successful boot; the success seems to be when there is a break in the stream of microcode updates. If the logging shows all updates contiguously, the "Microcode Update Driver" line is the last one output before the system freezes. The likelihood of a successful boot has dropped to zero for no observable reason. Any suggestions about what to prevent the freezing? It would intermittently malfunction sometimes allowing a boot to complete, other times not. It finally ditched the intermittent part. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
