[Bug 658788] New: Xorg 100% CPU utilization -- only after first login
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658788 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=658788#c0 Summary: Xorg 100% CPU utilization -- only after first login Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: klebanov@kit.edu QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/8.0.552.28 Safari/534.10 On a system with very few services installed, Xorg takes up 100% of (one of the) CPUs after startup. The problem goes away once the X server is restarted. Adding "sleep 5" to /etc/init.d/xdm also makes the problem go away. The last thing I noticed before my shiny new SSD died a horrible death today was that the problem would go away if I commented out the line "console owner" in /etc/init/cryptdisks-enable.conf.
That precisely fits the problem definition. "console owner" while X is running while forcibly take the ownership of tty7 away from X. It doesn't like that so much (cf. this bug) -------------------------------------------------------------- That's my understanding - it could be wrong though. Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Well, it's a race condition, so it may show up on one system and not another.
Coming from another angle: when it happens here, how can I diagnose it?
You mean diagnose the culprit? Honestly I don't know. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you have a suggestion for a better address for this problem report, I would be happy take it there.
Unfortunately I don't. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
