[Bug 491579] New: request for physx dependency
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491579 Summary: request for physx dependency Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: i386 OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: OBS Request AssignedTo: mrueckert@novell.com ReportedBy: niertie1@gmail.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009030423 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Firefox/3.0.7 I am considering adding a package to the OBS that depends on the NVIDIA PhysX SDK. However, this is a closed-source package, but it's 100% free for both commercial and non-commercial usage. They have released .deb and .rpm packages for i386 linux (64-bits is planned.) http://developer.nvidia.com/object/physx_downloads.html Is it possible that this could somehow be added, so I can set it as dependency of my package? Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you explain how you will comply with the terms of this EULA and still distribute your application under the terms of an OSI approved license? By not shipping the PhysX SDK in the resulting RPMs & DEBs. The users of my rpms can download the SDK themselves.

Can you explain what this would mean for the build service - you would need to build your package against some of the physx files? If so, which ones? As you mentioned, you would effectively get around the "redistribution" problem by having your users download the files themselves from etc nvidia.com. But exactly which files would you need hosted as part of your package in the OBS? I still find it difficult to see how either you could distribute the nvidia files publically through the build service and still remain compliant with the nvidia EULA... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
