[Bug 747498] New: Disk connected to docking station not recognized when docking
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=747498 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=747498#c0 Summary: Disk connected to docking station not recognized when docking Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: P.Suetterlin@royac.iac.es QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64; U; en) Presto/2.10.229 Version/11.61 At work I have a docking station for my laptop (Samsung P560) which has a monitor, network, a USB hub (mouse) and an external disk connected to it. The disk (a 2TB seagate) is sitting in an external hdd docking station connected via an eSATA cable to the laptop dock. When I dock the computer, the USB hub and devices are recognized and initialized, but not the disk. I have to manually rescan the bus, e.g., using rescan-scsi-bus.sh, to recognize the disk, show it in /proc/partitions and be able to mount it. This was working without problems in OS 11.4 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. dock laptop in docking station with eSATA connected HDD 2. 3. Actual Results: Disk is not recognized Expected Results: Disk should be recognized and made available in /proc/partitons Here's the snippet from the syslog when connecting the laptop to the dock: ----------- QS 12.1, Kernel 3.1.9-1.4-desktop -------------------------- Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.435777] ACPI: \_SB_.PCI0.DOCK - docking Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.479096] usb 1-5: new high speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.593475] usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=0424, idProduct=2514 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.593480] usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.594182] hub 1-5:1.0: USB hub found Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.594344] hub 1-5:1.0: 4 ports detected Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.697060] usb 1-6: new high speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.811488] usb 1-6: New USB device found, idVendor=0424, idProduct=2504 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.811497] usb 1-6: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.811936] hub 1-6:1.0: USB hub found Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.812157] hub 1-6:1.0: 4 ports detected Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.887245] usb 1-5.3: new low speed USB device number 6 using ehci_hcd Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.978975] usb 1-5.3: New USB device found, idVendor=046d, idProduct=c050 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.978984] usb 1-5.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.978991] usb 1-5.3: Product: USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.978997] usb 1-5.3: Manufacturer: Logitech Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.985598] input: Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-5/1-5.3/1-5.3:1.0/input/input12 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37721.985716] generic-usb 0003:046D:C050.0003: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse] on usb-0000:00:1a.7-5.3/input0 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37722.085241] usb 1-6.1: new full speed USB device number 7 using ehci_hcd Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37722.171474] usb 1-6.1: New USB device found, idVendor=0d8c, idProduct=0105 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37722.171484] usb 1-6.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=1, SerialNumber=0 Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37722.171491] usb 1-6.1: Product: USB Multimedia Audio Device Feb 10 10:12:54 snoopy kernel: [37722.171497] usb 1-6.1: Manufacturer: C-Media Electronics Inc. Per your DSDT, there only have 3 devices on DOCK, a USB hub, a bridge and a COM port: Device (DOCK) { Name (_CID, "*PNP0C15") Name (_UID, 0x03) Name (_BDN, 0x03) Name (_HID, "SEC0003") ... Name (_EDL, Package (0x03) { ^EHC1.RHUB, # USB hub ^LPCB.N217, # bridge ^LPCB.N217.URT2 # a COM port }) Method (_DCK, 1, NotSerialized) { If (LEqual (Arg0, Zero)) { Return (One) } Else { Return (One) } } Device (N217) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0A05")) # a bridge Name (_UID, One) Name (_EJD, "\\_SB.PCI0.DOCK") .... Device (URT2) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0501")) # a COM port Name (_UID, 0x02) Name (_EJD, "\\_SB.PCI0.DOCK") Device (RHUB) { Name (_ADR, Zero) Name (_EJD, "\\_SB.PCI0.DOCK") Device (PRT3) { Name (_ADR, 0x03) Name (_UPC, Package (0x04) { Zero, Zero, Zero, Zero }) } I wonder how does SATA works on this machine with OpenSUSE 11.4 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
