http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1075978 Bug ID: 1075978 Summary: [Zypper] : Zypper utility is leaky. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp Assignee: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ambarish.soman@yahoo.in QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Valgrind says that Zypper utility leaks memory while install/upgrade. Snippet from Valgrind Report : <snip> ==2384== LEAK SUMMARY: ==2384== definitely lost: 1,954,640 bytes in 36,163 blocks ==2384== indirectly lost: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==2384== possibly lost: 624 bytes in 13 blocks ==2384== still reachable: 19,253,713 bytes in 417,988 blocks ==2384== of which reachable via heuristic: ==2384== stdstring : 1,494,154 bytes in 35,112 blocks ==2384== suppressed: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==2384== Reachable blocks (those to which a pointer was found) are not shown. ==2384== To see them, rerun with: --leak-check=full --show-leak-kinds=all </snip> Command Ran : valgrind --log-file=vg5.out --leak-check=full -v zypper in *tree* *debug* *ganesha* *nfs* *kernel* *lvm* *xfs* *virt* It ran for ~ 2hours and attempted to install/upgrade ~2800 packages. This is when the process apparently leaked almost 2000 kB of memory. Complete valgrind report can be shared in mail(coz I can't attach stuff in BZ for some reason). Will share zypper logs. *Env* : zypper-1.13.28-6.1.x86_64.rpm during the test which I upgraded to zypper-1.13.39-14.1.x86_64 to read the core I reported in https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1075909 linux-vkxn:/var/log # cat /etc/os-release NAME="openSUSE Leap" VERSION="42.3" ID=opensuse ID_LIKE="suse" VERSION_ID="42.3" PRETTY_NAME="openSUSE Leap 42.3" ANSI_COLOR="0;32" CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:opensuse:leap:42.3" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.opensuse.org" HOME_URL="https://www.opensuse.org/" linux-vkxn:/var/log # -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
