[Bug 469235] New: network manager does not see my wireless network
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469235 Summary: network manager does not see my wireless network Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jens.uhlenbrock@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-1.1 Firefox/3.0.5 I am trying to connect my laptop to my wireless network but knetworkmanager does not "see" it. It shows all the available networks from neighbors but not mine even though the laptop is standing right next to the router. I also don't use the hide SSID option. So I entered the necessary information anyway and told knetworkmanager to try to connect. There appears to be no progress at all. Next step I removed the WPA encryption and tried without any security encryption. Still it doesn't even see the network and also cannot connect to it. Same happens with WEP, now I've tried all sorts of options. My other devices can connect to the network seemlessly. I don't know whether it's a general problem with my setup or if it's only concerning my wireless network but oddly enough other networks are being shown as available. But I cannot connect to them since they are all encrypted. I'm using KDE 4.2 RC1 with Networkmanager-kde 0.7r848570-23.1. I also installed the KDE4 version but can't find it. If it's the plasma applet, I've also tried that one and it also does not find my network. So it seems to be more of a networkmanager issue. Though ifup also did not work. I tried that as well.
