[Bug 789093] New: zypper should be able to display installed files and file locations
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=789093 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=789093#c0 Summary: zypper should be able to display installed files and file locations Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tonysu@su-networking.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 I can't count the many times I need to know the location of the executable for various reasons, and in all cases I generally open up YAST. RPM likely also can do this, but IMO should be a piece of zypper as well Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a package 2. Where is the executable to create a shortcut, execute (if not in a natural path) or point another app to it? Gotta know. Actual Results: No install summary, no description where the files were installed. Unable to use zypper so must some other tool. Because both YAST and zypper won't even list the proposed location for the executable before install, you can't know beforehand, too. Expected Results: Would like to see a zypper command which simply reads and displays installed files for a package. If this is to be addressed, might be related to Bug 475672 which requests displaying files prior to download, possibly extracting from the package metadata. But, this is different because the <location> of the files, not simply listing the files is also important. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Nevertheless a direct query via 'rpm -qlv <package>' will be far faster. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
