[Bug 438008] New: Application labels in Application-browser vanished
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438008 Summary: Application labels in Application-browser vanished Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lance.drager@ttu.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User After trying to get compiz running (didn't work), the application-browser (under the "computer" main menu, "More applications...") shows the icons for the applications, but no text labels. Uninstalling compiz and related packages does not fix the problem. The problem occurs for all users on the system. Reinstalling the apparently related packages does not fix the problem. I notice on the openususe forums that other people have encountered this problem while installing other software, but no solution is offered on the forum, aside from reinstalling the whole OS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Maybe a specfile doing something nasty? Could you attach one of the .desktop files from /usr/share/applications, before and after the problem occurs (only after is fine if you don't want to reinstall)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Most of the strings have been replaced by the word "ding" ("thing" in German). Looks like it might be a problem with a script that updates the desktop files.
