It has been introduced by Novell who releases OpenSuse. "I investigated this bug by installing OpenSuse 11.0 (I do not have a DVD of OpenSuse 11.2, you see). I can confirm that this bug occurs when using OpenSuse 11.0 with the binary of gv shipped with it. I furthermore can confirm that compiling and installing GNU gv 3.6.3 and 3.6.8 from the official sources lead to a version of GNU gv without this bug (using OpenSuse 11.0, of course). I also can confirm that recompiling the Source RPM of Opensuse compiles to a binary with this bug." The described behavior is very disconcerting since the user may think he is about to overwrite the file he wants to open. Please fix bug and provide latest version of gv, 3.6.8.
