They have always successfully burned without any errors - so I don't believe it's the medium. The Discs I use are professional grade. So, would changing the permission in the above path for both Cdrecord (which is linked to wodim) and for wodim as well, work? Unfortunately no. As I wrote above, the message from k3b is wrong. Wodim can access the device, burning starts and continues to ~80%, then fails because the device reports "Medium Error". The simplest explanation is that it really is a medium error. It might be also a kernel bug, but that is IMHO much less probable. Maybe you can downgrade the kernel and test if the problem goes away. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I changed the permissions on the Cdrecord link file. Then, firstly burned a normal data disc - success; then an ISO - success. Perhaps it was the media? To have five all at once is a strange thing, though. May be sun-light had gotten to them. Anyway, it seems to be working now. Thanks for your time and help. I'll sign it off and hopefully it won't come back. Probably not. K3b parses the log and creates a pop-up message from it. The log itself is correct but the message is not. K3b picks up wrong line. So the log parsing in k3b should be fixed.
