[Bug 227925] New: Suspend is not being performed in certain sequences.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227925 Summary: Suspend is not being performed in certain sequences. Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jharmon@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Setup: This issue has been reproduced on a Thinkpad T40p (by myself) and on a T42p (by a sysop). This is openSUSE 10.2 using the gnome desktop. Therefore the power management setting are being configured in the gnome-control-center power management section. The configuration is setup so that suspend occurs if the lid is closed only while running on battery. If running on AC power and the lid is closed then it is set to not suspend. So inside the power management settings there is a Running on Battery tab I have the sleep set to 11 minutes and the actions set to suspend when laptop lid is closed. On the running on AC tab I have the action set to blank screen when laptop lid is closed. Issue: This setup works if you unplug the power before you close the lid. Then it will suspend properly. However if you close the lid first and then disconnect the power it does not suspend. This is the bug. If you then open and close the lid again it will suspend. However it should check to see if the lid is closed as soon as the power is disconnected so it know whether or not to suspend. It should not rely on the user to unplug the power before closing the lid. Another scenario that you may run into is if the laptop is in a docking station with the lid already closed and you then need to go to a meeting and disconnect from the docking station then the lid will already be closed but won't suspend. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227925 ------- Comment #1 from jharmon@novell.com 2006-12-13 09:47 MST ------- I had a sysop report this, so I am putting a bug in on it. We really need the ability to change the thresholds on the health monitor for OES Linux. Not having it makes mail notifications nearly useless. For example when the web web server hits 60% for a couple of minutes (which it does when indexing) it will start complaining loudly via email. I only really care if it hits 95% for more than 10 min or such. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It was supposed to be a new bug, but I don't know how it got in this bug instead. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

However, it's more a feature than a bug. I'm reassigning this bug to the gnome-power-manager maintainer and taking Danny (kpowersave maintainer) into CC. Will look at how hard/easy it is to fix it as soon as I finish my sle10-sp1 duties. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
