But I don't know why. I don't remember if there were any updates for video-thumbnailer or totem. For sure I was updating codecs. The actual video files play perfect sound and audio; but the thumbnail file, VIDEO_TS.VOB, is inert. I suspect some small significant part of my setup is missing, rather than an actual bug with totem. Not likely, you have already upgraded to newer versions of openSUSE, which had a lot more bug fixes. We believe that this specific bug has been fixed during one of the release cycles; as such, I close the bug as 'FIXED'.
