https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856753 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856753#c0 Summary: Wrong usage of unit "Mb" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: j9002j@yahoo.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 ifconfig reports network usage in bytes and Mb. Example is this line: RX bytes:95002350 (90.6 Mb) TX bytes:5550741 (5.2 Mb) "Mb" is an acronym for megabit = one million bits. But multiplying 95002350 bytes by 8, be get 760018800 bits, which is by no means equal to 90.6 Mb. Evidently, mebibytes (MiB) or megabytes (MB) shall be used instead of Mb. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Issue ifconfig -a Actual Results: Mb comes out as unit of traffic measure. Expected Results: MB, MiB, GB, GiB, or all of these units used.
