[Bug 821882] New: opensuse12.3 kernel 3.7.10-1.4-xen crashes in domU under heavy network traffic
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=821882 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=821882#c0 Summary: opensuse12.3 kernel 3.7.10-1.4-xen crashes in domU under heavy network traffic Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: samuel.kvasnica@ims.co.at QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0 Setup: - dom0 using standard OS12.3, kernel 3.7.10-1.4-xen - domU same OS12.3, same kernel 3.7.10-1.4-xen Observation: - Dom0 seems pretty stable, no crashes. - DomU starts cleanly and seems ok but crashes under heavy network traffic There are no crashes, if kernel in DomU is replaced by older 3.4.46-1.1-xen from OS12.2 Seems to be very similar to this one: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/xen/devel/283272?do=post_view_threaded... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start DomU 2. initiate some network traffic. I could not trigger it by mere iperf but running an update or larger install in zypper or YaST is 99% safe to crash the kernel Actual Results: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffff8801ef8de000 [ 65.716649] IP: [<ffffffffa001a18d>] netif_poll+0x48d/0xe40 [xennet] [ 65.716670] PGD 5806067 PUD 660e067 PMD 678b067 PTE 80100001ef8de065 [ 65.716682] Oops: 0003 [#1] SMP [ 65.716690] Modules linked in: nfs fscache lockd sunrpc af_packet hwmon domctl joydev crc32c_intel ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel ablk_helper cryptd lrw aes_x86_64 xts gf128mul autofs4 scsi_dh_emc scsi_dh_hp_sw scsi_dh_rdac scsi_dh_alua scsi_dh xenblk cdrom xennet ata_generic ata_piix [ 65.716741] CPU 0 [ 65.716747] Pid: 0, comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 3.7.10-1.4-xen #1 [ 65.716753] RIP: e030:[<ffffffffa001a18d>] [<ffffffffa001a18d>] netif_poll+0x48d/0xe40 [xennet] [ 65.716764] RSP: e02b:ffff8801f7c03cf0 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 65.716769] RAX: ffff8801ef8de000 RBX: ffff8801ef8ddec0 RCX: ffff8801ef8ddec0 [ 65.716772] RDX: ffff8801ef800528 RSI: ffff8801ffd1ee88 RDI: ffff8801efa73280 [ 65.716776] RBP: ffff8801f35c4c80 R08: 00000000000005a8 R09: 0000000000000000 [ 65.716780] R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: 0000000000000011 [ 65.716785] R13: 000000000000259d R14: ffff8801f7c03db0 R15: ffff8801ef870800 [ 65.716795] FS: 00007f896dfe8740(0000) GS:ffff8801f7c00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 65.716800] CS: e033 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 65.716804] CR2: ffff8801ef8de000 CR3: 00000001f3f40000 CR4: 0000000000042660 [ 65.716808] DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 [ 65.716812] DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000ffff0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 [ 65.716817] Process swapper/0 (pid: 0, threadinfo ffffffff8087e000, task ffffffff808899c0) [ 65.716820] Stack: [ 65.716823] ffffffff80069468 ffff8801f7c0b450 ffff8801f269a408 ffff8801f7c03d90 [ 65.716831] ffff8801f7c03d70 000000120000258c ffff8801ef871d50 0000000000000000 [ 65.716840] ffff8801ef870858 ffff8801f7c0e5d0 0000000000000012 000000400000259e [ 65.716849] Call Trace: [ 65.716874] [<ffffffff80413388>] net_rx_action+0x178/0x2d0 [ 65.716890] [<ffffffff800379ee>] __do_softirq+0xce/0x210 [ 65.716905] [<ffffffff8050b8cc>] call_softirq+0x1c/0x30 [ 65.716916] [<ffffffff80008a25>] do_softirq+0x95/0xd0 [ 65.716927] [<ffffffff80037cc5>] irq_exit+0xa5/0xb0 [ 65.716937] [<ffffffff80362fdd>] evtchn_do_upcall+0x2ad/0x2f0 [ 65.716947] [<ffffffff8050b4fe>] do_hypervisor_callback+0x1e/0x30 [ 65.716956] [<ffffffff800033aa>] 0xffffffff800033a9 [ 65.716968] DWARF2 unwinder stuck at 0xffffffff800033aa [ 65.716971] [ 65.716976] Leftover inexact backtrace: [ 65.716976] [ 65.716986] [<ffffffff8000e17e>] ? xen_idle+0x4e/0x1a0 [ 65.716993] [<ffffffff8000ea35>] ? cpu_idle+0x65/0xc0 [ 65.717001] [<ffffffff8090aac0>] ? start_kernel+0x3b1/0x3bc [ 65.717007] [<ffffffff8090a526>] ? repair_env_string+0x5b/0x5b [ 65.717010] Code: 8d d0 00 00 00 49 63 c4 48 03 8d d8 00 00 00 48 83 c0 03 48 c1 e0 04 48 01 c8 80 7e 10 00 74 0b 48 83 7e 08 00 0f 84 ab 02 00 00 <48> 89 30 41 0f bf c8 41 0f b7 f1 89 70 08 89 48 0c 41 83 c4 01 [ 65.717102] RIP [<ffffffffa001a18d>] netif_poll+0x48d/0xe40 [xennet] [ 65.717111] RSP <ffff8801f7c03cf0> [ 65.717114] CR2: ffff8801ef8de000 [ 65.717120] ---[ end trace 3d06e200f350f459 ]--- [ 65.717124] Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt Expected Results: no crash -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
