[Bug 1041099] Max user processes limit is reached easily with Chromium
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1041099 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1041099#c2 --- Comment #2 from Iakov Karpov <srid@rkmail.ru> --- (In reply to Tomáš Chvátal from comment #1)
What I can see is that the limit for them is 4096. max user processes (-u) 4096
Also I don't think this is chromium bug. Something must loop on your system.
ATM I have open 4 chromium windows each with at least 20 tabs and I get 800 running processes for the whole user.
I don't think there is something wrong with chromium, but it's what causes the problem in my case. But after recent chromium updates I was unable to open as may tabs as I used to, so I started digging. And I found out that my system is reaching process limit. I don't know why it was limited to 1200, but i'm pretty sure that I did not set it, I didn't even know how to set limits before this. I've checked my laptop, and it had same limit. So, I assumed that it was the default setting. As for processes, average number of user threads on my system is about 950-1100. This includes KDE + chromium + firefox (yes, i use them both) + kontact with akonadi + kopete + steam + goldendict + other stuff like file managers, few konsole sessions, etc. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
