[Bug 878160] New: Power failure leads to permanent loss of monitor in kscreen
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=878160 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=878160#c0 Summary: Power failure leads to permanent loss of monitor in kscreen Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: jimmyslimmy@hotmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 I have an Apple Cinema Display attached to an PC with Intel HD 4000 graphics. The PC is on battery backup, the monitor is not. Last week there was a power failure. Once power came on, KDE would not turn monitor on (since this was the only monitor available, there was no way to fix KDE from within KDE) Solution:
From the command line, delete the folder ~/.kde4/share/apps/kscreen
I saved a version of the file that I had to delete: ~/bad.kde4/share/apps/kscreen> cat 150e39ecf05f31cc87b56227b5c2c2ba [ { "enabled" : false, "id" : "5752ae2c916ae3ed22233c01125b8e82", "metadata" : { "fullname" : "xrandr-LED Cinema-W82231T96JL", "name" : "DP1" }, "pos" : { "x" : 0, "y" : 0 }, "primary" : false, "rotation" : 1 } ] Once the folder was deleted, this was what was autogenerated: ~/.kde4/share/apps/kscreen> cat 150e39ecf05f31cc87b56227b5c2c2ba[ { "enabled" : true, "id" : "5752ae2c916ae3ed22233c01125b8e82", "metadata" : { "fullname" : "xrandr-LED Cinema-W82231T96JL", "name" : "DP1" }, "mode" : { "refresh" : 59.9506, "size" : { "height" : 1440, "width" : 2560 } }, "pos" : { "x" : 0, "y" : 0 }, "primary" : true, "rotation" : 1 } ] Note that the "enabled" field is "false" in the failed state. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Logging into KDE does not show any output on monitor. Expected Results: kscreen should not disable the only monitor attached to the system, instead maybe put it in a default safe mode or something? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
