[Bug 204686] New: Automounting CDs does not work in GNOME
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204686 Summary: Automounting CDs does not work in GNOME Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Automounting CDs does not work in GNOME. When inserting a CD into the drive, an icon named "CD-RW/DVD+-RW Drive" appears on the desktop, but after clicking this icon, an error popup is shown instead of nautilus opening the drive content. The text of the error message is: Unable to mount the selected volume. mount: can't find /dev/hdc in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab There is indeed no fstab entry, but in KDE it works even without that. hal-0.5.8_git20060822-3 dbus-1-0.92-6 dbus-1-glib-0.71-5 nautilus-2.15.92.1-3 gnome-vfs2-2.15.92-3 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204686 andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |ASSIGNED Info Provider|andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de| ------- Comment #3 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-19 09:48 MST ------- It doesn't work for me. An icon appears on the desktop when inserting a data CD, but when activating it, all I get is: mount: can't find /dev/hdc in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab There is indeed no entry in /etc/fstab created during installation. Not even in Alpha5, and Alpha5plus is not public. And now I'm totally confused because in 10.1, the existance of an /etc/fstab entry actually disabled the automounter, and now it is required again?! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204686 andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED ------- Comment #4 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-20 10:53 MST ------- Reinstalling all hal-*/dbus-*/PolicyKit packages from factory fixed it. So it was probably just a user error, broken system or incomplete update. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
