[Bug 618875] New: No Sound with kde4.4+Amarok, but sound with vlc+flash+yast-testsound
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=618875 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=618875#c0 Summary: No Sound with kde4.4+Amarok, but sound with vlc+flash+yast-testsound Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: langkamp@tomblog.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100527 SUSE/3.6.4-2.2 Firefox/3.6.4 I´ve got an 82801JI (ICH10 Family) onboard HD Audio Controller. In 11.2 I could choose the main audio device (digital or analog output) in the audio-configuration tool of kde 4.4. This option is gone with 11.3 RC1 - pulseaudio is the only option left. This might be the cause why kde4.4testsound+amarok seems to play any file but nothing comes out of the speakers for both outputs digital and analog. In VLC I still can choose between Alsa, Oss, PortAudio etc. and within Alsa I chose "HDA Intel:ALC1200 digital (hw:0,1)" instead of "HDA Intel:ALC1200 analog (hw:0,0)". That made sound work in vlc. The firefox flash-plugin and the yast sound-configuration tool (test sound) had no problems from the beginning on. Interesting: if amarok is playing a file (but without sound output) this blocks the test-sound of the yast-sound-configuration tool. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But... there still remains the question why pulse-audio causes this and if it was activated with my fresh and default dvd-install of Milestone 7 (upgraded via zypper dup to RC1). I can not remember, if I turned pulse-audio on by myself in the first place...sorry. And it also remains the question why flash and amarok are still blocking each others sounds (like it is since 11.2), but this is bug no. 408247. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
