It complains about a missing MRL plugin or somethin like that. Committing the same operation from Dolphin results is success. Starting kaffeine from kicker and the opening the file from its file menu is also successful, however, on some occasions this method resulted in no sound. I was unable to reproduce this symptom nowadays, so it seems to me, the only remaining problem is that kaffeine cannot play the file when invoked from the KDE4 desktop. (except https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=443158 and https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469298) I compared the environment variables and command lines of different kaffeine entities called from desktop dolphin and kicker, and the result wast, that the environment variables were fortunately always identicat, but the commandline is somehow broken when invoked from the desktop: /opt/kde3/bin/kaffeine desktop:/MVI_5870.AVI While the commandline looks this way when called from dolphin (or from inside KDE3): /opt/kde3/bin/kaffeine /home/tamas/Desktop/MVI_5870.AVI Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.
