[Bug 966730] New: LVM dm-cache policy is not available
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=966730 Bug ID: 966730 Summary: LVM dm-cache policy is not available Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: darkstorm@operamail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Dear community i'm operating a Leap 42.1 server system with a Data Storage based on LVM using a VG based on a Adaptec 2405 RAID1 6TB Array and a Samsung M2 SSD 950 Pro as caching device (DM-Cache). Using the MQ caching policy i can operate the device using/changing several parameters. 1. According to this article SMQ is default but for me MQ has been activated when enabled the cache 1st time not defining this policy parameter https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/Documen... 2. Manual switch to SMQ is not possible, i've tried to switch to SMQ using lvchange --cachepolicy smq vg/lv but this hasn't been accepted giving a device-mapper: reload ioctl on (252:3) failed: Invalid argument as output and the dmesg output: device-mapper: cache-policy: unknown policy type. it seems, that -for OpenSUSE MQ is the default policy -for OpenSUSE SMQ is not available for manual activation The system is a leap 42.1 with all recent updates. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
