[Bug 307376] New: kpowersave: when laptop is not plugged in screensaver has problems with kicking in
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=307376 Summary: kpowersave: when laptop is not plugged in screensaver has problems with kicking in Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: behlert@novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- When I use my laptop (Dell Latitude D610) normally it goes like this -> screensaver -> standby. No problem. I worked today on batteries for a long time and I observed quite awkward behaviour: * either SS didn't kick in at all * or it did, ~20 seconds passed, there was a blink, and SS turned off (so the screen was recovered with all its contents) User could hardly call this power saving, since screen was active for most of the time. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Maybe it is related to switch to dynamic (AFAIR I reported it) -- no matter what I set, on plug-in/unplug Kpowersaves switches to dynamic.
No, this has nothing to do with your problem. KPowersave has nothing to do with kick in/off the screensaver (with the timeout). KPowersave can't change this setting in KDE. If the screensaver go off after some seconds this looks as a Xorg/KDE problem, may there is some kind of key/mouse/other (e.g. KDE notification) event which trigger this. I can't reproduce it here. Btw. may the DPMS-dependent=true in your kdesktoprc has to do with it, but I don't know. I reassign this to the KDE ppl. may they have some ideas or can isolate the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
