http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=973850 Bug ID: 973850 Summary: cups-browsed takes high CPU usage constantly Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing Assignee: jsmeix@suse.com Reporter: tiwai@suse.com QA Contact: jsmeix@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Since the last update of TW, cups-browsed keeps taking a high CPU time constantly. The top command shows cups-browsed running always in 50-100% CPU time. The last update includes the update of cups-filters-cups-browsed-1.8.2, and this is the likely cause. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

From time to time (e.g. a few times in a minute) cups-browsed should do something (and then it takes as much CPU as needed) but shortly afterwards it should become idle again (i.e. very most of the time it should be idle) and its memory usage should be basically constant. After all cups-browsed is basically only a small helper service

Takashi Iwai, does cups-filters RPM package downgrade help?
Where can I get the packages? Also, downgrade only cups-filters, nothing else? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

According to http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2016-03/msg00266.html it seems there is no such thing as an archive of older package versions to be able to downgrade. If this is true it means there is no regular way back when things do no longer work after a version upgrade.
It is true. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
