Ether for preparing a System to install openSUSE, changing partitions on a system or copying partitions to another hard disc. Normally I use GParted for this, but it's not included in the live-cd. So at the moment I have to install it from packman every time after booting the live-cd. GParted can perform many tasks very well for a lot of filesystems. And there are some features which are not supported by the YaST-Partitioner. Also parted (command line tool) does not support every feature gpaerted provides (e.g. ntfs-resizing), because gparted uses additional backends. For example the NTFS support in parted is very bad. gparted is using the ntfs-3g tools for it. Here are two main features I miss in the YaST Partitioner: - copying partitions and resizing them to the size at the new target (also to another hard disc) - moving partitions up or down in free space (not just resizing) On the other hand the YaST partitioner also provides features gparted doesn't have. For example RAID and LVM support. So I see two ways to go: -> Adding GParted to the live-cd and the repositories. or -> Adding the GParted features to the YaST-Partitioner. If the GParted features are added to the YaST-Partitioner, an entry called GParted in the Desktop-Menu targeting to the YaST-Partitioner and a link to the YaST-Partitioner for the command gparted in the shell would be nice.
