This happens with the Radeon driver distributed with OS13.1. I replaced the driver with the driver found here: http://geeko.ioda.net/mirror/amd-fglrx/openSUSE_13.1/ That corrected the problem. I have a Radeon HD 7700 graphics device. This is used the KDE distributed with OS13.1. All patches are current. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download the Mathematica 10.0 trial http://www.wolfram.com/mathematica/trial/ 2. Install Mathematica 3. Launch Mathematica 4. Attempt to open a file. Actual Results: X-Windows restarts and a new login screen is displayed. Expected Results: Mathematica file picker opens and displays available files.
