My machine has oopsed 5 times during the last week. Every time it has managed
to write the syslog to disk, it has implicated ext3_discard_reservation.

This looks like a single-bit flip - kernel tried to dereference i_block which had address 0x00004000000000000. Have you tried running memtest for a day or two?
