Please advise if this happens. Please try file menu item "load factory settings". You need to make sure that your xorg and Mesa are up to date as blender is a pure x11 application. It will take a few days to find out what causes this bug, blender worked correctly in 11.2 and nothing has changed since then. I have to find out which dependency is causing this. Please check for ~/.blender directory as requested in Comment 9 before updating blender. blender-2.50 is pre beta and is a big improvement on 2.50 alpha 2.
