https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807159 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807159#c0 Summary: mounting cifs locks filesystem Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: axel.braun@gmx.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=527837) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=527837) traffic on the network after mounting smb share User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 I have a Vodafone Easybox 802 with an external disk attached. From dolphin, this can easily be accessed with smb://192.168.2.1/Seagate . All folders can be seen and drilled in. When I try to mount mount -t cifs //192.168.2.1/Seagate /daten_zentral -o noserverino the command is completed, and immediately some traffic on the network appears. When issuing ls -al /daten_zentral nothing happens - ls is busy for hours, dolphin freezes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. try to mount smb share as described above 2. 3. Actual Results: (file)system freezes Expected Results: file system is mounted After killing the ls (kill -9) in /var/log/messages: Mar 2 14:51:51 southpole dbus-daemon[696]: **** /proc/self/mountinfo changed Mar 2 14:54:15 southpole su: (to root) axel on /dev/pts/4 Mar 2 14:54:27 southpole kernel: [11522.063140] CIFS VFS: No task to wake, unknown frame received! Please provide a network trace captured across the mount and ls attempt.
How can I do that?
Also, provide /var/log/messages with cifs kernel client debug messages enabled with: # echo 7 > /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI

Looks like you need to run "modprobe cifs" first. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Despite the service cifs is started?
Yes, /etc/init.d/cifs only performs cifstab mounts. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

oops...and mount does it not by himself. Please find the logs attached. I cancelled the wireshark after a short while, as it created a huge amount of data -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
